[PT] A proposta do ateliê português MOOV para a nova sede da organização ambiental FUNDECOR, em Puerto Viejo, Sarapiquí, Costa Rica foi galardoada com o 2 º lugar no Concurso Internacional de Arquitectura "Simbiose na Paisagem Rural". O projecto foi desenvolvido em colaboração com a arquitecta paisagista Susana Rodrigues e procurou dar resposta a um edifício de 600 m2. De acordo com os autores: "A preocupação fundamental que norteou o processo de decisão desde o início foi como produzir uma solução que é, ao mesmo tempo, responsável funcional, económica, icónica e ambientalmente. A forma circular do edifício permite dar uma resposta evidente a todas estas preocupações. A forma circular evoca ideias que sempre estiveram relacionadas, intrinsecamente, com continuidade, regeneração, equilíbrio e centralidade. Ela evoca movimento e, ao mesmo tempo, a ideia de um lugar para conhecer e reunir. A disposição radial dos espaços permite tirar o máximo proveito da paisagem em 360 graus e a distribuição funcional do programa, distribuído em torno de um pátio interior circular, onde as pessoas se podem reunir. Sob o gesto contínuo da grande superfície do telhado são gerados espaços distintos, desde quartos totalmente fechados, até espaços totalmente abertos, adequando cada área à respectiva função, de acordo com o programa. O edifício é levantado do chão, deixando a topografia do terreno intocada, reduzindo, a quase nada, a necessidade de escavação ou aterro. O fluxo natural da água da chuva também é preservado. Isso, também, permite que o ar se mova sob a construção, ventilando-a, e dá ao edifício uma presença mais proeminente, como uma referência na paisagem. Este projecto, não só preserva o local e oferece condições de vida para os seus moradores, como também melhora as condições naturais actuais, regenerando a área de intervenção. [EN] The proposal of the Portuguese studio MOOV for the new headquarters of the environmental organization FUNDECOR in Puerto Viejo, Sarapiquí, Costa Rica was awarded with the 2nd place in the International Architecture Competition "Symbiosis in the Rural Landscape." The project was developed in collaboration with landscape architect Susana Rodrigues and sought to respond to a building of 600 m2.
“The fundamental concern that guided the decision process from the start was how to produce a solution that is at the same time environmentally responsible, functional, cost effective and iconic. The circular shape of the building aims at giving a positive response to all of the above. The circular form recalls ideas that have always been associated with it such as continuity, regeneration, balance, and centrality. It evokes movement and, at the same time, summons the idea of place to meet, to gather.
The radial disposition of individual spaces allows taking full advantage of the landscape in all 360 degrees, and the functional distribution of the program, set in array around an inner circular patio, where people can gather. Under the single continuous gesture of the large roof surface are generated distinct spaces, from totally enclosed rooms, to fully open spaces, suiting each space to its function according to the program. The building is lifted from the ground, leaving the terrain topography untouched, reducing to almost none the need for excavation or land filling. The natural flow of rain water is also preserved. That also allows air to move under the construction, cooling it, and gives the building a more prominent presence, as a landscape reference. This project not only preserves the locations and offers living conditions to its dwellers as is also enhances the actual natural conditions, by regenerating the plot”.
